Cheers!

For those of you who know me well, know my nightly ritual is a glass of red wine.  And for those of you that know me really well, know that it usually turns into two or three glasses!  Often I am sipping away as I blog, (which explains the various typos).  I love it when I come across a well designed home bar.  Here are a few I thought were worth sharing.

Home Office

The task today is to clean and organize my office. I have to say I am not that unorganized but the thought of diving in head first into this project is a little overwhelming.  My home office occupies only a 10' x 10' space and is ideally located between my kitchen and living room.  But I am now wishing it was smaller!!  My home office is like my purse...the bigger it is, the more useless stuff is in there!  So to avoid the task at hand, I am blogging instead about petit home office spaces that are confined to a closet....love that concept.  :)

For the Love of Lavender

I love the color of lavender....but I catch myself saying that about every other color too!  The color purple is associated with nobility and royalty, so maybe I love it's regal quality.  It has been a favorite for bedrooms, but over the years the color has migrated from the bedroom to occupy other living spaces.   Here are some scrumptious rooms that feature the color lavender (and shades of purple too).

Bold and Bright Patterns

There is always something magical about large scale patterns.  Whether they're used on a wallpaper or an upholstered piece, the trick is all about balance.  Here are a few rooms that successfully incorporate a large scale pattern!

This was featured on styleathome.com.  I just love the mix of patterns here. And the artwork adds a sense of depth to the space.  Be sure to check out the article by Lauren Flanagan featuring contributing design editor Christine Hanlon's take on Global Style.

I love the pop of pink in this neutral room of gray and taupe.  This room, featured in High Gloss Magazine,  shows how a bold pattern can bring a space to life!  Love the portfolio of Armonia Decors, something I am sure you will enjoy yourselves.  And if you haven't seen the online addition of High Gloss Magazine yet, put it on your "to do list" today.

What's not to love!! This chair makes a statement showing off it's large scale print.

This bedroom designed by Tami Risinger was featured in At Home Arkasas.  I love the large scale floral pattern on the shams!

I found this wonderful living room designed by Massucco Warner Miller thanks again to High Gloss Magazine.   Love the placement of the large bold pattern on the chairs!  You can see more of this talented design firm's gorgeous interiors on their website.

The Magic of Chalkboard Paint

There are many homeowners laboring away today on Labor Day.  And while I was cleaning up the mess that Irene left in my back yard, I was dreaming of working on a project that might actually be fun!  Chalkboard paint has come a long way in the last few years and it's available in an array of colors too.  So for all you "DIY'ers", here are a few photos that may inspire you.  You've got to love the magic of chalkboard paint!

Love the idea of a wall painted in chalkboard paint for a nursery, but I not so sure about the pillow!

HAPPY LABOR DAY!
